Kilamba Arena, Kigali Arena & Dakar Arena.
Upcoming March the first ever Basketball Africa League season will start. In December, the NBA announced the cities and arenas that will host the first BAL season. These are the stadiums where it will all happen:
1. Cairo Stadium (Cairo, Egypt)
The Cairo Stadium Indoor Complex is based in the biggest city of the Arab world: Cairo. It is the biggest of all stadiums with a capacity of 20,000 people. By its size it is comparable to an NBA arena. The complex hosted the Under 17 World Cup in 2017, as well as some Handball World Cups.
2. Salle Moulay Abdallah (Rabat, Morocco)
The arena in Rabat is said to be big enough for 10,000 people
3. Kilamba Arena (Luanda, Angola)
Also named the Pavilhão Multiusos do Kilamba. It was built in 2013 for the 2013 Roller Hockey World Championship. The arena is located in Luanda and held the record for most people in an African game (11,500) before Dakar Arena broke it in 2019.
4. Dakar Arena (Dakar, Senegal)
The brand new arena in Dakar was opened in August 2018. In August 2019, the arena broke the record for most attendants in an African basketball game. During the final of the 2019 Women’s AfroBasket there were 15,000 people in the arena.
5. National Stadium (Lagos, Nigeria)
The National Stadium Indoor Hall is located in the giant city of Lagos. It has previously been used for the finals of the Nigerian League.
6. Mohamed-Mzali Sports Hall (Monastir, Tunisia)
The arena in the city of Monastir can hold 4,075 people. It is the home arena of US Monastir, one of the teams of the first BAL.
7. Kigali Arena (Kigali, Rwanda)
Last but not least is the Kigali Arena which will be the stadium of the Final Four. Opened in 2019, it is a brand new arena. The qualifiers were already played here.
